Code of Conduct Suppliers

In the international fresh produce sector, there is increasing attention to the quality, food safety, sustainability and social themes of suppliers and products. Retailers and traders are demanding compliance to legal & above requirements , minimum standards for suppliers and products, on behalf of consumers. 

Therefore,  for The Greenery, Wagenaar and Hoogsteder it is important that when sourcing products, compliance to those standards, requirements are met by the companies in purchasing products demonstrating legality, ethical accreditation, sound environmental practices,  proven sustainability records.

The Greenery, Wagenaar and Hoogsteder attach great importance to correct and respectful treatment of all its employees and to safe and hygienic working conditions and therefore respects the ETI code of conduct, particularly regarding the ITUC Global rights Index ranking each year. 

The Greenery BV and all its subsidiaries are aware of their responsibility, therefore are committed to the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) agreement, are registered on Sedex , including SMETA for Responsible & Ethical Sourcing.

The Greenery requires compliance in supply for both its suppliers and customers.

The ETI code of conduct is an internationally recognized code that is required by many customers. SMETA is based on this. The code of conduct contains 9 main principles:

·         Free choice of employment

·         Respect the freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining

·         Pursue safe and hygienic working conditions

·         Ban on child labor

·         Payment of minimum legally required salary

·         No excessive exceeding of working hours

·         No discrimination

·         Pursue permanent employment

·         No threats or inhumane treatment

To ensure compliance with these points listed, to meet the legal requirements and the compliance in supply for customers, The Greenery, Wagenaar and Hoogsteder require completion of the attached document as a transparent & honest annual declaration, situation & status of the supplier and any product(s) prior to any delivery. 

Ethical policy

The Greenery  policy is to conduct business in an ethical way and it requires the same from its employees, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders.

Corruption
The Greenery does not engage in any form of corruption and requires the same from its employees, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders.

Bribery
The Greenery is alert to bribery, does not engage in any form of bribery and requires the same from its employees, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders.

Scam, fraud
The Greenery is alert to scams or fraud and does not cooperate in any way. The Greenery also requires this alertness from its employees, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders.

Money embezzlement, money laundering
The Greenery does not engage in monetary embezzlement or money laundering and requires the same from its employees, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders.

 Human trafficking, oppression, slavery
 The Greenery does not engage in human trafficking and oppression of people and slavery and requires the same from its employees, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders.

If any form of the above or an attempt to do so is observed that has or may have a relationship with The Greenery, this must be reported immediately to The Greenery or anonymously via Speak UP
